The International Society for Antiviral Research (ISAR) hosted the 39th International Conference on Antiviral Research (ICAR), bringing together leading scientists, researchers, and industry professionals to discuss the latest advancements and breakthroughs in antiviral research, from Monday, April 27th to Friday, May 1st in Prague, Czech Republic.

At ICAR, scientists working throughout the world in all areas of discovery, applied, translational, or clinical research and development met in a collaborative and collegial atmosphere to review and analyze most recent developments in all areas related to antiviral drug discovery and development.

We are proud to see the research progress from our partners at the University of Naples Federico II presented to the international audience at #ICAR2026! Their work on the SARS-CoV-2 PLpro target is a fundamental pillar of the AVITHRAPID project. Here the statement by PH.D. Antonietta Mollo: “Last week, I had the opportunity to attend ICAR2026 for the first time, organized by ISAR in Prague.
It was a great pleasure to present a poster on my research, as part of the AVITHRAPID Consortium, funded by the European Commission, titled “Advances in the discovery and optimization of a novel chemical cluster targeting SARS-CoV-2 PLpro.”
The conference was an incredibly stimulating environment, with high-quality scientific contributions that sparked new ideas and opened the door to meaningful discussions and new perspectives.
I am grateful for the chance to engage with leading experts in the antiviral field, an exchange that was both intellectually enriching and highly motivating. A special thank you to my supervisor for his constant support, guidance, and encouragement throughout my Ph.D. journey.
Finally, I would like to sincerely thank the Scientific Committee for the opportunity to participate in this inspiring conference.”
